Procedures Performed
Wisdom Teeth
Wisdom teeth, officially referred to as third molars, are usually the last teeth to develop. They are upper and lower teeth whose function is to grind food as part of the digestive process. They are located in the very back of your mouth, next to your second (or twelve year) molars and near the entrance to your throat.
Implants
This titanium root is fitted into a socket that we create in your jaw, replacing the lost root of your natural tooth. Dental implants come in various shapes and sizes and have different types of surfaces. The actual implant selection will depend on a variety of factors related to your specific treatment needs and the most appropriate one(s) will be used. You will need a restorative dentist to place the cap.
Extractions
Teeth may need to be removed for a number of reasons, usually due to extensive decay, "gum" disease, or trauma resulting in painful, abscessed, and/or loose teeth.
Bone Grafting & Reconstructing
In order to optimize comfort, function and aesthetics occasionally bone grafting is required to replace missing bony tissue, and in many cases support the placement of dental implants. Bone grafting is a procedure where bone is implanted into the deficient bone area, or transferred from one area or location of the mouth, and placed into a new location.
Tooth Exposure
Occasionally a canine tooth or other tooth is malpositioned within the jaw bones, or is blocked from erupting into the mouth. Done in conjunction with orthodontics or braces, these teeth are exposed {bone and soft tissue removal with the placement of traction device} to aid in the eruption for normal function.
Oral Pathology
The inside of the mouth is normally lined with a special type of skin (mucosa) that is smooth and coral pink in color. Any alteration in this appearance can be a warning sign for a disease process.
